John Thomson, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for leisure

Wiltshire Council has taken steps to keep children entertained this summer with a series of dance camps across the county.

The three-day sessions for eight-14-year-olds, hosted by The Dance Lady, focus on individual skills and choreography. They are suitable for newcomers and more experienced dancers.

John Thomson, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for leisure, said: "The dance camps are just one part of our Get Active summer programme which provides a range of opportunities that are available at 61 locations across the county.

"Sport and physical activity plays a vital role in the lives of young people. It contributes to good health and wellbeing, community cohesion and helps children meet other youngsters and make friends."

To register a place for a Get Active Dance Camp contact Matt Pearson, sports development officer, on 01225 770213 or email.

The camps cost £50.
