We are launching an exciting new series of free public lectures called #Epic Talks.
The first of our #Epic Talks, ‘The impact and influence of social media', will be delivered by Dr. Charles Kriel specialist advisor to the DCMS (Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) Select Committee on fake news at the House of Commons. Dr. Kriel is from the Corsham Institute, whose work focuses on education and research to promote lifelong learning in the digital age.
The event, which aims to highlight current and future trends in social media and their impact on society and individuals, will take place on 26 March from 5.30pm to 7.00pm at County Hall, Trowbridge and is free for everyone to attend.
#EPIC talks originated from a member of Wiltshire Council's #EPIC employee engagement group (empowering people, innovation and collaboration), where employees work together to deliver innovative engagement initiatives in their own time.
Through #EPIC Talks, Wiltshire Council hopes to stimulate debate and learning, inviting thought leaders, academics and inspirational speakers to share their knowledge on a range of topics.
Joanne Pitt, Wiltshire Council director for human resources and organisational development, said: "It's fantastic to see our employees working together in their own time to organise and support the delivery of free public lectures from experts and inspirational speakers. We believe these #EPIC Talks will stimulate learning, interest and conversation within our communities as well as being great fun to attend."
These lectures will be recorded and uploaded to Wiltshire Council's YouTube channel.
Please register at Event Brite.
All future talks can be booked at the above page and a calendar of events will be published on our #EPIC Talks webpage.
