Warminster HRC closed temporarily for works

The good news for residents is the centres will be refurbished and improved which we hope will make it a better experience for everyone who uses them

Warminster Household Recycling Centre has closed for a short period of time to allow for refurbishment works.

It will re-open 20 October 2017.

A refurbishment and improvement programme will be rolled out across the majority of Wiltshire's recycling centres over the next few months, with centres closing for short periods while the work takes place. Marlborough was the first centre to be refurbished (re-opened on 12 October 2017) as part of this programme of work, and now its Warminster's turn.

FCC Environment has recently taken over the contract by the council to run nine council owned recycling centres and they will be carrying out refurbishment works on them and where possible, improving the layouts.

This work will mean each site will be closed from between one and two weeks between October and December 2017.

The work has been planned carefully to ensure that when one centre is closed, others local to that particular area will be open and available to use.

Winter opening times will apply from November to March so people to check our website for details.

There will be no changes or closures at the HRCs at Purton and Lower Compton near Calne as these will continue to be operated by Hills Waste Solutions under a separate contract.

We advise you to check when centres are open before you travel.

Bridget Wayman, Wiltshire Council spokesperson said: "We of course don't want to inconvenience people but these short closures are necessary to allow us a smooth transition to the new contract.

"I'd like to thank people for their patience while these works are carried out.

"The good news for residents is the centres will be refurbished and improved which we hope will make it a better experience for everyone who uses them."
