Improvements works taking place on B3098 - Westbury
Work to extend a footpath to the White Horse viewing area will begin on the B3098, Bratton Road in Westbury on 8 October following residents' requests for improvements.
It will link the existing footway outside of Fairview Farm to the bridleway ‘WEST51' close to the White Horse viewing area.
In 2017, Westbury Community Area Transport Group received requests from local residents to improve the footway provision on B3098 Bratton Road, Westbury leading to the White Horse viewing area and bridleway. This location is well used by pedestrians but the existing footway provision leading from the town does not continue far enough. With the support of Westbury Town Council, a successful funding bid was made to the Wiltshire Council substantive scheme fund to allow the construction of the footway to proceed.
Works are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete and in order for them to take place safely it is essential to close the road between the viewing area and the farm. The road will be closed for the duration of the works and there will be a clearly-signed diversion route in place.
The signed diversion for through traffic is shown below. The diversion route must use roads of A or B classification and cannot sign traffic onto the more local C and unclassified roads. While drivers may wish to use these local routes, motorists on longer journeys using the B3098 are advised to use the signed diversion route. People should allow additional time for their journeys during the works period.
We would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation during these works.
