Supporting athletes

Wiltshire is proud of its talented sports people and recognises that support to help them achieve at the top level of their sport is invaluable. To this end Wiltshire Council hosts the annual fundraising event, the Wiltshire business and sports gala dinner to raise funds for our grant programme that includes:

Elite athlete grant - Closed

A grant of £1,000 is available to any Wiltshire athlete who completes at either a national or international level in either an Olympic/Paralympic sport, or any sport recognised by Sport England, see the list Sport England: Sports and governing bodies that we recognise (opens new window). 

Funding can be used to access training and competitive opportunities, purchase equipment, or cover transport costs incurred for events in the UK and abroad. This grant is now opened for applications. 

Applicants who have applied in the recent round will be notified of the results of the grant panel meeting in mid February 2024.

Sports scholarship grant - Closed

A grant of £500 is available to any Wiltshire athlete aged between 8 and 18 years old  who completes at either a regional or national level in either an Olympic/Paralympic sport or any Sport England recognised sport, see the list Sport England: Sports and governing bodies that we recognise (opens new window). 

Funding can be used to access training and competitive opportunities, purchase equipment or cover transport costs incurred for events in the UK and abroad.

Applicants who have applied in the recent round will be notified of the results of the grant panel meeting at the end of March 2024.

FACTS leisure centre memberships

Wiltshire Council offers free annual leisure centre membership for use of the fitness suite and pool for any Wiltshire athlete aged 16 years and over who is competing for GB at either a senior or junior level and is on a NGB development squad in either and Olympic or Paralympic sport or a sport recognised by Sport England either as an individual or as a team member.

Younger applicants may be considered on a discretionary basis.
